The Forestry Training Institute in partnership with the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation with sponsorship from the European Union launched a ten day training for journalists in Liberia on the PROBIO project. PROBIO means protecting biodiversity through law enforcement and communities-led initiatives, and it is a 2 to 3 year project that seeks to provide capacity building training for journalists, Eco-guard and community dwellers.
The training, which is aimed at building the capacity of journalists in the country on how to report on forest-related stories and biodiversity, seeks to create an enabling society where journalists can have an understanding on how to report stories. It is planned in three phases: Journalists, Eco-guard and Community Dwellers at affected and protected areas in the country. The training at FTI lasts from May 20th to May 29th and included 30 journalists.
